Ladies Autumn Am Am Tuesday 9 October 2018
With beautiful blue skies and temperatures in early 20’s, course conditions continue to change week on week. Nine teams set out to enjoy the climes, but it was Angela Austin, Sylvia Armson, Jane Ackling and Claire Bottom who made first place with a meritorious 81 points. With the same worthy score, Ali Groom, Julie Bowler, Suzanne Pretty and Gilly Higgins narrowly missed top spot, falling short by 1 point on the back 9. Congrats everyone....
It has not been a great season for Longcliffe Seniors. The final two matches away, at Rothley - lost 5 - 3 and at Ruddington Grange - lost 7.5 - 0.5.
The seasons' full results were: 2 cancelled matches, 12 lost, 7 won. Better luck next year!!

Ladies Autumn Stableford Tuesday 2 October 2018
Not the easiest of conditions as the weather becomes increasingly changeable nevertheless, Angela Austin was in fine form, posting a notable 35 points for the win. Equally worthy was Claire Bottom, also with 35 points, who was edged out on the back 6 to take runners up position. Well done ladies...
Ladies Purnell Cup Final Thursday 27 September 2018
An impressive number of ladies signed up for this year’s knockout matchplay with a mere 5 wins required to make the final round. With plenty of blue sky and minimal wind, the weather for finalists Sue Overton and Kate Hammond could not have been better however, in the end Kate came out on top winning 3 and 2. Congratulations to both ladies for reaching the final - no small feat – but very well done Kate on your win. Many thanks to Gilly Higgins who kindly agreed to referee on the day.
Midweek Rollup Stableford Wednesday 26 September 2018
As the September sunny weather continued congratulations go to Matthew Tyler who won with a solid 38points just ahead of Chris Tolley and Malcolm Riley, both with 36 points.
Mixed v Willesley Park Sunday 23 September 2018
With a stiff breeze and the course quite exposed in places, it was a chilly 18 holes. Despite a couple of good wins from Longcliffe, Willesley managed to hold us to a 3 ½ - 3 ½ draw which included a half from Ricky and Rebecca Wood who were nominated to play for Willesley (due to a last minute dropout) against Mick and Jo Barradell. An excellent meal followed; possibly one of the best served outside Longcliffe itself!
This match marks the end of the Mixed friendlies for 2018. Huge thanks go to Andy de Wet for all his organisational efforts this year. We look forward to much of the same next year!!Shepshed Ford Saturday 22 September 2018
As we moved into autumn the penultimate competition of the year delivered some excellent scoring with Aidan Travers returning an excellent nett 66 (81 - 15) to win from Matthew Stevens with nett 67 (79 - 12) and Tony Linnel (85 - 17) in third place with nett 68. Steve Critchley took the gross prize with an equal par round of 72 which contained four birdies. Congratulations also go to Division winners: Div 1 - Matthew Stevens, Div 2 - Aiden Travers, Div 3 - Norman Ellis nett 71 (90-19).
Congratulations go to Will Adamek who carded a fine score of nett 72 (77 - 5) to win this year's trophy from Mitchell Fairbrother in second place with nett 75 (80 - 5).

Mixed Paget Trophies Sunday 9 September 2018
Having dodged the rain the day before, the course was damp and the wind made the course challenging. Of the twelve pairs who set out from midday, it was Andy de Wet and Hayley Smith who capitalised on the Betterball Stableford format to attain an exceptional 44 points. Hayley in particular, had a phenomenal day's golf. Runners up were Mick and Jo Barradell who returned an equally impressive 41 points. Thanks to everyone who took part.
Mixed Deacon Squires
Mick and Jo Barradell will take on Captain Dave Hagger and Carol Wild in the final. The qualifying round took place back in April which means the subsequent match play rounds have provided some fantastic (hard fought!) competition throughout the summer. We wish the finalists the very best of luck...
Ladies v Charnwood Forest Thursday 6 September 2018
In the last match of the season Forest visited Longcliffe for a very friendly Am-Am which unfortunately coincided with possibly the wettest day of the summer and the consensus was to abandon play after 10 holes. The day was saved by a superb lunch before play and very welcome tea and cream cakes after our drenching.
