The Men's section provides opportunities for inter-club and competition golf in a variety of team settings. Selection for the League and "A" teams is made from the Division I and single-figure handicappers. The Combined and "B" Teams are made up from the higher division golfers. The Seniors Team is drawn from the more mature and experienced golfers in the club! Representative golf in all teams enables members to widen their golfing experience and also to enjoy the social benefits of inter-club fellowship.
Men's club competitions are held throughout year, generally on Saturdays and Wednesdays, and these are always very well-supported. Knockout competitions, which are played in both summer and winter, are also very popular, and afford members the opportunity to enjoy competitive matchplay on an individual or pairs basis.
Opportunities to play social golf with fellow members are numerous. There are a number of informal groups which meet up regularly and arrange their own draws. A particular feature of club golfing at Longcliffe is the regular club draw, which is held on most non-competition Wednesdays and Saturdays, when any member may turn up and be assured of a game in unofficial Am-Am competition play. These are very sociable events and members of all handicap levels are welcome to join in.
