Help for Heroes A Team Update 2018

Help for Heroes v Rothley  Friday 10 August 2018
The H4H team concluded there season with a disappointing 3-3 draw against Rothley.   Only once this season have we looked like the team that won the league in 2017.  A total of 23 different players represented Longcliffe this season.  On a more encouraging note nearly £2000 has been raised for aiding injured servicemen and women at Stanford Hall to experience golf in 2019.

Finally Longcliffe did win one accolade in that Paul's after match meals were voted unanimously the best in the league.  Should any newer members with a handicap of 12 or below wish to represent the club in competitive match play fixtures in 2019 could they please make themselves known to Dave Gray.

Help for Heroes v Birstall   Tuesday 10 July 2018
The H4H A team hosted unbeaten Birstall trying to gain some pride after 4 successive defeats.  Local knowledge and determination saw Longcliffe return to form with a convincing 5-1 win.  All 5 wins were comfortable and it is hoped the same 12 will be available for the final fixture.  Full details can be found on the website.

Help for Heroes v Birstall (away)  Wednesday 27 June 2018
The H4H team travelled to unbeaten Birstall still seeking their first win of the season.  Four of the six matches were closely fought with each team winning one and two being halved, however Birstall had emphatic wins in the other two matches preserving their unbeaten record with a 4-2 win.  Four consecutive losses sees Longcliffe rooted to the bottom of the H4H League.  However, we are still optimistic we will win our last two games and restore a little pride.

Help for Heroes v Kirby Muxloe  Wednesday 6 June 2018
The H4H Team faced a determined Kirby Muxloe  team in their second match of the season.  Despite fielding a strong side the team slumped to another loss.  On the night the visitors played the better golf and proved deserving winners 5-1.  The only bright light was the performance of Sean Creeney and Wayne Bown who maintained their 100% winning record.

Help for Heroes v Rothley (away) Wednesday 23 May 2018
The H4H team started their defence of their title with an away trip to Rothley.  Longcliffe had never won on four previous trips to Rothley and history was to repeat itself with Longcliffe going down 3.5 to 2.5.  Our next fixture is at home to Kirby Muxloe when every effort will be made to get our season up and running.
