Briggs Broadbent/Young Cup/EG Medal Tues 24 April 2018
With the threat of rain from midday, it was a race to get round. Though the course played long and windy, the CSS of 72 showed that good scores were returned regardless. Rachel Miller came out on top with a net 71 to win the Briggs Broadbent Trophy with Alison Groom runner up with a respectable net 76. Meanwhile, Pat Haslam won the Young Cup with a strong net 73, closely followed by Irene Moody with a commendable net 74.
Rachel Miller (Silver) and Sue Overton (Bronze) are both eligible to play in the Gold Medal.
Ladies Spring Am Am - Tuesday 17 April 2018
Though most of the field experienced good weather, it was the winner's who played through the worst conditions! Congratulations to Joanne Barradell, Beth Johnson, Fiona Johnson and Tina Rumming who amassed a very credible 76 points.
Ladies Barlow Elsom Tuesday 2 April 2018
Seven days on and another lucky gap in the persistent grey skies. While the course was understandably wet, it was a joy to be out and playing; the fact that all bunkers were GUR was a revelation under the circumstances! The winners of the day's greensome medal, with a very respectable 74.2, were Julie Bowler and Suzanne Pretty. They managed to beat runners up Joanne Barradell and Alison Davie by a mere 0.4 having who secured a round of 74.6! Well done ladies.
St John's Cup Tuesday 27 March 2018
And so the new season commences! Unusually for the weather of late (!) it was a drizzly start to the first ladies qualifier for 2018. Whilst wet under foot in places the greens were considered receptive, testament to the grounds staff. Congratulations go to our very own Ladies Vice Captain Margaret Norris who took the trophy this year having played a "steady and thoroughly enjoyable" round, accumulating 32 worthy points in the conditions. Well done also to Claire Bottom who was runner up with 31 points.
