Mixed Match Update
Mixed v Beeston Fields Sunday 2 August 2015
Our happy band of brothers and sisters, led by Geoff Allcock, demolished Beeston Fields at Longcliffe 7-1. It is sweet revenge for the mauling we endured at Beeston. Fabulous sunny day, so all in all, a very satisfactory outcome.
Mixed v Northampton County Sunday 5 July 2015
We played a different format for the match against Northampton County. One of their couples played with one of ours, competing against the other 7 four balls in an AmAm format - 2 to count. There were modest prizes for the winners. The format proved very popular, with Longcliffe pairing Trevor and Ann Todd in the winning team with 76 points. We’ll give it some thought and maybe try it again...?
Mixed v Kibworth Sunday 28 June 2015
The troops scored a stonking 5½ to 2½ success at home against visitors Kibworth. We keep marching on......
Mixed v Charnwood (away) Sunday 14 June 2015
Shock defeat in our first home match. 3 1/2 – 4 1/2 against Charnwood. The shame of it. We thought they became discombobulated after 9 holes if they couldn’t start on the 1st again. We shall have to step up the team training and perhaps engage in a bit of team rotation for our next match....!!
Mixed v The Leicestershire (away) Sunday 24 May 2015
News hot off the press: We were restricted to 6 couples in which may have contributed to our first defeat of the season at the Leicestershire but by the narrow margin of 3 1/2 to 2 1/2. The result hinged on the last putt of the last match, so it was very close.........!!
Mixed v Radcliffe on Trent (away) Sunday 10 May 2015
We remain undefeated, despite playing all matches away from home so far. Norman Ellis played and captained the team at Radcliffe and in good weather conditions the match result was an enjoyable honourable half.
Mixed v Rushcliffe (away) Sunday 12 April 2015
...absolutely stonking 6 1/2 to 1 1/2 win – again in awful weather conditions, with Graham Bowler captaining. We are up for the next one. Bring on the rain.......!!
MIxed v Lingdale (away) Sunday 29 March 2015
It was an exciting start to the season for the hardy warriors of the Mixed Section: braving a howling gale they secured a fine win away at Lingdale on March 29th.
Mixed Open Lines McGahan Trophies Sunday 17 May 2015
We held our Mixed Open, The Lines McGahan Trophies, on Sunday and it was won by Margot Lawrence and her son Mark, both members. They won with a betterball score of 43 points and they also had the best gross score of 70. Incidently, Margot won this event 30 years ago with husband Brian. Congratulations to both!!
