Combined Team Update 2017

Longcliffe v Wollaton Park Thursday 15 June 2017
The Mens combined team kept up their unbeaten home record this season with another 4-2 victory against Wollaton Park.  Convincing victories were had by Ian Russell and Steve Warren 6 and 5, and Les Mitchell and Scott Pugh 4 and 3.

Longcliffe v Rothley (away) Wednesday 7 June 2017
Rothley was in excellent condition, despite the heavy rain over the previous couple of days, although it played very long due to the wet ground and strong westerly wind blowing. All the matches were tight affairs with 4 of the 6 going to the 18th hole. Unfortunately home advantage paid off with Rothley winning 4-2.

Longcliffe v Charnwood Wednesday 24 May 2017
The course was in superb condition and the weather excellent as Longcliffe kept up our excellent start to the season with a fourth consecutive 4-2 victory.  Past Captain Dave Wilkinson and debutant Scott Pugh led the way with a 5 and 4 win and Les Mitchell and Andy de Wet won 3 and 1.  Well done to all involved and on to Rothley Park away in a couple of weeks.  Charnwood team captain, Steve Wyles, presented Captain Dave Vosper with the commemorative bottle of wine which was rescued from the burnt remains of Charnwood's clubhouse 40 years ago!

Longcliffe v Burton  Tuesday 25 April 2017
The weather repeated the arctic conditions experienced in last year's match at Burton....freezing cold wind, rain and hail....!!  Despite that it was a really good night with much fun afterwards and Longcliffe emerged victorious with yet another 4 - 2 win.

Longcliffe v The Leicestershire (away) Wednesday 12 April 2017
The combined team got off to a solid start to the season at The Leicestershire winning 4 - 2 against determined opposition.  Inspired by the new team kit, the two Pauls, Bennett and Argument led the way with a 6 and 5 victory, followed by Captain, Dave Vosper, and Andy DeWet who won 4 and 3.  Dave Gould and Martin Ballard volunteered to collect the money following their defeat.

We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and enjoyed the course and their hospitality followed by a fine meal after the match.
