Sarah Haslum and Gilly Higgins members of Longcliffe Gold Club, have qualified for the finals of the prestigious Daily Mail Foursomes to be held at The Marriot Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club near Coventry on the 18^th, 19^th and 20^th October.  They have battled their way through seven rounds to reach the last sixteen from an original entry of three thousand golf clubs. 

Sarah, who only took up golf four years ago and who now plays off five and Gilly off 13 played for the first time as a foursomes pairing last year when they won the Pidduck Trophies, the qualifying competition for the Daily Mail Foursomes.  On the way to the final they have had some close fought matches.

They recall that the tightest game was the one against Mickleover in which Longcliffe were 1 down going to the 18^th. Managing to win the hole to stay in the match, the local pair teed off at the first again where Gilly made amends for putting Sarah in a greenside bunker by eventually sinking a match- winning putt.

Both players are very much looking forward to the challenge of playing at the Forest of Arden and its demanding schedule of four matches in two days.
